Too many pastors think it is a divine right to have a full salary with health care, a pension, and a two-week paid vacation. But if that is the bare necessity of ministry, then a majority of churches in America (with a much higher percentage internationally) aren’t going to have pastors at all. Worse, church planting is going to be severely stunted. Nothing wrong with compensation, but there is definitely room at the Great Commission table for bi-vocational ministers. They are a growing necessity for an expanding Kingdom. So, from the outset: Thank you, bi-vocational ministers. The world is a much better place and the Kingdom is stronger because of you.
